Mental Health First Aid Training

Mental Health First Aid training for Smoky Mountain District
The Smoky Mountain District of The United Methodist Church will host a Mental Health First Aid Training session for clergy & laity on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Foundation for Evangelism at Lake Junaluska. Participants may choose adult or youth training. Cost is only $20 per person (includes lunch) thanks to a grant and support from the district. Hinton staff members will lead the training.
Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis. More information can be found on the MHFA website.
